The Renaissance Longsword

The Renaissance Longsword is based on the longer swords found in Italy at the end of the 15th century. A 37” blade and 9.25” grip makes for a sword well suited to the study of the sword in two hands.

The Renaissance Longsword

The Renaissance Longsword is made from 5160 alloy steel in partnership with Castille Armory. The blade is 1.75” wide at the shoulders, tapering to a 5/8'“ tip. Three narrow fullers run down the blade, with the center fuller being the longest. These blades are offered between Castille’s F3 and F4 flex rating

The guard of each longsword is hand-forged from 5160 steel, and heat treated for strength and durability. Guard styles are taken from the Oakeshott Typeology, and include Straight (Style 1), Flared (Style 2), Curved (Style 7), Hooked (Style 8), or S Curved (Style 12). Guards can be finished in Bright Satin or Blackened.

Pommel options include Disc (Type G), Wheel (Type K), Faceted Scent Stopper (Type T), Round Scent Stopper (Type T2), or Fishtail (Type V1).

Each grip core is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate, covered with a layer of cotton cord, and finished with lightweight hand-dyed veg-tan leather. Leather colors available include black, brown, red, oxblood, blue, green, and black (other colors available on request). Grips can optionally feature a half wire wrap in blackened or polished steel, copper, brass, or a combination of materials.
