The Marozzo Spadone is designed to simulate the large sword in two hands used in the writings of Achille Marozzo. At 42.5”, the large blade is perfect for studying the early 16th Century Sword in Two Hands.

Each Marozzo Spadone blade is made from 5160 alloy steel in partnership with Castille Armory. The blade is 1.75” wide at the shoulders, tapering to a 5/8'“ tip. Three narrow fullers run down the blade, with the center fuller being the longest. Two small nubs, rounded for safety, protrude from the blade at the end of the ricasso to simulate the larger hooks found on period spadone and later montante. These blades are offered between Castille’s F3 and F4 flex rating.

The guard of each spadone is hand-forged from 5160 steel, and heat treated for strength and durability. Guard styles are taken from the Oakeshott Typeology, and include Straight (Style 1), Flared (Style 2), Swelled (Style 5), or Curved (Style 7). Guards can be finished in Bright Satin or Blackened.

Pommel options include Faceted Scent Stopper (Type T), Round Scent Stopper (Type T2), or Fishtail (Type V1).

Each grip core is made of stabilized hardwood, covered with a layer of cotton cord, and finished with lightweight hand-dyed veg-tan leather. Leather colors available include black, brown, red, oxblood, blue, green, and black (other colors available on request). Grips can optionally feature a half wire wrap in blackened or polished steel, copper, brass, or a combination of materials.
