The Type XV Arming Sword

The Type XV Arming Sword is based on the one of the most popular sword designs found from the medieval period through the Renaissance. This one-handed sword with a 31.5” blade and a 4.25” grip is perfect for the study of the sword alone or with a buckler.

The Type XV Arming Sword

The XV Arming Sword is made from 5160 alloy steel in partnership with Castille Armory. The blade is 1.75” wide at the shoulders, tapering to a 5/8'“ tip. These blades are offered between Castille’s F3 and F4 flex rating

The guard of each sword is hand-forged from 5160 steel, and heat treated for strength and durability. Guard styles are taken from the Oakeshott Typeology, and include Straight (Style 1), Flared (Style 2), Curved (Style 7), or Hooked (Style 8). Guards can be finished in Bright Satin or Blackened.

Pommel options include Disc (Type G), Wheel (Type K), or Fishtail (Type V1).

Each grip core is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate, covered with a layer of cotton cord, and finished with lightweight hand-dyed veg-tan leather. Leather colors available include black, brown, red, oxblood, blue, green, and black (other colors available on request).
